Peyton Perrine III is a charming young actor from Los Angeles, California. He was raised by a devoted mother and father who instilled good values in him and his younger brother. His childhood has been nurtured with love, happiness, and solid support for his dreams. At the tender age of 13, Peyton is already dedicated to making those dreams a fulfilling reality. We sat down with P3 to discuss his acting career, faith, family, and future.

He chose acting to proudly follow in the footsteps of his talented mother, who has taught him everything he knows. At three years old, P3 began as a commercial actor. It wasn’t until around nine or ten that he gained more roles in shorts and television series. From there, his passion for the art form continued to grow. P3 reminisced on his earliest acting memories.

Mhonaé: What was the experience like when you received your first acting role?

Perrine III: Well, I don’t remember all of it, but I do remember that I was always really excited when I booked a role, and I enjoyed being on set with the cast. I remember having a lot of fun.

Though he stems from a creative family, the young entertainer is building a name for himself in the industry. P3 is most known for his roles in Funny Married StuffColin in Black & White, and Puppy Place. He booked his breakout role as Marky in the popular Nickelodeon comedy That Girl Lay Lay in 2021, and fans can’t get enough of his charisma on screen. We learned more about the series, the character Marky, and P3’s on-set experience overall.

Mhonaé: When you received the call that you had booked the role of Marky on That Girl Lay Lay what were you feeling?

Perrine III: I was just so thankful. I felt so blessed. I was on the ground praying, crying, and thanking God for this wonderful opportunity.

Mhonaé: Tell me about your character Marky.

Perrine III: He’s Sadie’s younger brother who loves his money and will do anything for it. In season 2, he has become more of a family man. He loves hanging out with the family and going on adventures with his best friend, Scoot. He’s something!

Mhonaé: How did you prepare for the role of Marky?

Perrine III: My mom and I drilled the audition scene. Ms. Susan, the casting director, helped me out a lot as well. She really wanted me to book the role. We kept working together, and after working with her and my mom continuously, I got it.

Mhonaé: What has the experience been like working with Lay Lay and your other castmates?

Perrine III: Lay Lay and Gabby are like big sisters to me. We all get along so well, and it’s like a real family.

Mhonaé: How does it feel to be a part of a hit show on Nickelodeon?

Perrine III: It’s a blessing. God has done so much for me and my family. It feels good to know that my hard work paid off.

This meaningful opportunity has afforded P3 more experience and lasting relationships with his cast members while sharpening his skill set. On the first day of filming, he was extremely nervous, but everyone welcomed him with open arms, which comforted him. He gained an extended family, making it an enjoyable project to be a part of. Season 2 of That Girl Lay Lay is now available on Netflix. P3 talked further about how he manages nerves in auditions.

Mhonaé: Do you get nervous when you go on auditions?

Perrine III: Yes, because it’s not guaranteed. You can either book it or not. You just want to do your best.

Mhonaé: How do you overcome those nerves?

Perrine III: Getting the opportunity is the most important part. Knowing that I have an opportunity to do something is what keeps me from being nervous. If you choose to work hard, practice, and if it’s meant for you, that’s how you overcome it. That is my way of doing it.

P3 is on track to a bright future. He is excelling not only creatively but academically. It is incredible to see an adolescent manage a full-time career and education. Yet, P3 wasn’t afraid to admit that he hadn’t mastered balance. We couldn’t help but smile at the pure honesty and innocence. He possesses a natural self-confidence. He shared how he maintains it in the entertainment industry.

Mhonaé: How do you balance school and acting?

Perrine III: Well, right now, I am still figuring out the balance. I’m trying my best to keep working on my schoolwork and drilling my lines. So, that question will be answered one day when I master it.

Mhonaé: How do you stay motivated and confident in this business?

Perrine III: That is a part of me. I have always had confidence. I also believe that I am enough and that I am inspiring people.

Beyond his acting, P3 is a witty, fun-loving kid. When he isn’t portraying a character, attending industry events, or creating content on social media, he is engaged in the hobbies that make him happy. His eyes lit up with excitement when sharing what he did in his free time.

Mhonaé: What other activities do you enjoy when you’re not working on your career or schoolwork?

Perrine III: I am a martial artist. I do Muay Thai, which is like Thai kickboxing, but you use your elbows and knees. I spend 90% of my time doing that and playing with the sword that I made. I also love playing basketball, video games, spending time with my little brother, and hanging out with my friends.

Mhonaé: Since you love basketball, who is your favorite NBA team and player? Also, who would you have preferred to see in the NBA Finals?

Perrine III: My favorite team is the Philadelphia 76ers. That is who I would have liked to see in the NBA Finals and win a championship. My favorite player is the MVP, Joel Embiid, of course.

P3 adores his family and life, and he unapologetically gives God glory. It is so special to witness! The beautiful relationship that he shares with his mother brings us joy especially. He also shares a great bond with his younger brother. He has been well-equipped with the necessary tools to be a respectable and successful young man. With God’s grace and his parents’ guidance, P3 will accomplish so much and inspire so many.

Mhonaé: Who or what inspires you?

Perrine III: My mom because she works so hard. She is amazing! Also, the people that I see working hard on set every day. It inspires me to work hard every day.

Mhonaé: What more would you like to accomplish in your career?

Perrine III: I would like to star in a Marvel action movie. I also want to help people in need. I like giving back! Plus, I want my own tv show about me and to do more movies.

Mhonaé: What advice do you have for other young aspiring actors?

Perrine III: Stay hungry, stay humble, and keep believing that you can win. Also, keep believing that God has a plan for you.
