Last month we had the pleasure of introducing you all to K. Teyrell (@k_teyrell) for our Black Beauty for February. Our Black Beauty pick is someone we see on social media who showcases black excellence through the beauty of photography.

He let us know a little bit about him, his background and what black beauty means to him!

Being black is one of the greatest blessings I can ever have. Of course being a Black Man in this world has its own obstacles. However, with all of the struggles we have to face throughout generations, we’re still able to go through it with a certain Poise. Strength. Tenacity. Courage. This makes the US beautiful. I come from a Jamaican father and a St. Lucian mother. Growing up, my mother praised me daily about how my black is beautiful and for that I love the tone of my skin, the curls in my hair and the shape of my body. These are things I know I inherited from my ancestors. These are also the same things I’m proud to show within my photos. I’ve been able to work with certain brands that I never thought I would ever do in my lifetime, thankfully the world is beginning to understand that black people aren’t a hindrance, we are enhancements. We’re smart, marketable and one of the best forms of art on this planet.
