First Look at “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” by Apple Tv+

The title of Apple TV+’s highly anticipated sci-fi drama based on Legendary’s Monsterverse has been revealed as “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters,” and the first images from the 10-episode series starring Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett, and Elisa Lasowski have been revealed.

Following the epic battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking revelation that monsters exist, “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” follows two siblings who follow in their father’s footsteps to discover their family’s connection to the shadowy organization known as Monarch. Clues lead them into the world of monsters and, eventually, down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), in the 1950s and a half-century later, when Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows. The epic three-generation narrative shows buried secrets and the ways huge, earth-shattering events may resonate through our lives.

“Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” was co-created by Chris Black (“Severance,” “Star Trek: Enterprise,” “Outcast,””) and Matt Fraction (“Hawkeye”). The first two episodes are directed by Matt Shakman (“Wandavision”).

The series is produced by Legendary Television and executive produced by Black, Fraction, and Shakman, as well as Joby Harold (“Obi-Wan Kenobi,” “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts”) and Tory Tunnell (“Spinning Out,” “Underground”) from Safehouse Pictures, Matt Shakman (“Wandavision”), Andy Goddard (“Carnival Row, “Downton Abbey”), Brad Van Arragon (“Yellowjackets,” ” Toho Co., Ltd., the proprietor of the Godzilla character, is represented by executive producers Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita. Toho granted Legendary the rights to “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” as a natural outcome of their long-standing association with the film franchise.
